What is it that the Lord is asking you to do? Before I knew the importance of this question I thought I needed to do what I thought was best. My father died when I was 10 years old and off to college at 17. I knew how to stay out of trouble, work successfully and make a decent wage. I lived a traditional life with traditional values.
I was raised to think that most women should be married, but had no knowledge of how to be a wife or chose a husband. I know now that you learn to be a wife long before you chose a mate. I never looked for wise counsel, I did ask the Lord questions but never really waited on all the answers. Balance was missing from our lives for many years and most singles parents without support need another form of balance. You can get it from the Lord of course if you know how.
Most of my family lived on the other side of the country and I was basically a longer. I have since learned that that is the best way to get in trouble. I now believe that best thing to do in life is to find what your assignment from God is. When you find that then all other things will fall in place. I believe a woman with her own passions and directions are like a magnet for someone with the same interests, or someone that genuinely care about you.
So how do you find what your assignment is or how to listen to God? I find that in my quiet time studying the Bible, praying or just sitting quietly meditating on what I had read or with just no nose in the house at all, I could hear HIM better. As a matter of fact, the more you do these things the more you hear from God in your circumstances. When I ask Him questions the answers would come right away at times, but others times I would have to wait for them. That does not mean I don’t still make mistakes but they are fewer mistakes.
Until next time.
